About Girls Tennis
Former Ames tennis standout Timmy Ellis returns for a second season as the head of the Little Cyclone girls tennis program. In 2021, the Little Cyclones qualified Arunadee Fernando to the IGHSAU State Singles Tournament. Fernando won her first two matches over Megan Sommerfeld (Ankeny) and Madison Sagers (Cedar Falls) before dropping a semifinal match to top-seeded Claire Gu (West Des Moines Valley). The victory in the third place match over Abbie Peterson (Ankeny Centennial) cemented Fernando’s legacy at Ames High – which included the 2019 co-ed doubles state title.
