About Baseball

Nick Steenhagen enters his third season in the lead of the Ames baseball program. The Little Cyclones finished the 2021 campaign with an 18-23 record. Highlights included a six-game winning streak in the second week of the season and a pair of non-conference victories over two different 2A No. 1 teams: 5-1 over Roland-Story in a mid-week contest and a 9-5 victory over Van Meter in the championship game of the Jim Gebhart Classic in Saydel. The Little Cyclones graduated four regular starters from last year’s team, but still return several key players including Mario Napolitano and Evan Grey at the top of the order for this year’s team.
