About Boys Swimming

Joe Fisher enters his third season in charge of the Ames boys swimming program. The program has earned two team state championship titles and eight team runner-up titles in its storied history.

IHSAA Championships

Last year, the Little Cyclones finished 11th at the IHSAA Championships, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke by freshman Joshua Chen and a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with Hanyu Ning, Joshua Chen, Eli Houseman, Adam Feilmeyer in the lineup.

US Olympic Team Trials

Qualifier

Joshua Chen spent the offseason prepping and qualifying for the US Olympic Team Trials in Omaha – one of the youngest athletes to participate in the event this year.

The Little Cyclones have won two team state titles, 1982 under Mike Wittmer and 2018 under Dan Flannery.

Ames has won 50 individual, relay, and diving event state titles, which ranks among the top-10 of all IHSAA programs.
